As reported in The Roanoke Times and other local media this morning a shocked Roanoke citizenry was slapped, shocked and angered at Norfolk Southern’s decision to relocate all its downtown building employees to Norfolk and Atlanta.
On Facebook Roanokers wrote that they felt betrayed by the railroad that defined Roanoke’s beginnings and that Roanokers had so much pride in. Roanoke had is beginnings as as a rail town.
It is an efficiency/synergy decision by President Jim Squires but it is a blow to Roanoke’s economy.
