RICHMOND – Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, was endorsed today by The Virginia Association of Realtors®, through its Realtor® Political Action Committee (RPAC). The Virginia Association of Realtors is the largest trade association in Virginia, with over 33,000 members. The group interviewed Bob McDonnell and Creigh Deeds prior to making the endorsement, in addition to reviewing questionnaires filled out by the two candidates, and thoroughly reviewing their voting records and policy positions.
Speaking about the endorsement, McDonnell remarked, “Virginia’s Realtors work in every county and every city to help Virginians achieve the American Dream of home ownership. They create good jobs. They are involved members of their local communities. To receive the endorsement of Virginia’s Realtors, in an election focused on jobs and the economy, is a great honor. Our campaign is about bringing Virginians together across party and regional lines to create new jobs and more opportunities for the people of the Commonwealth. That’s what Virginia’s Realtors do every day: create jobs and provide opportunities. I have worked closely with Realtors both as a delegate and most recently as Attorney General. I will continue this positive partnership as governor, and together we will get Virginia’s economy back on track.”
John Powell, President of the Virginia Association of Realtors noted, “Homeownership is the key to the American dream for most Virginians. Bob McDonnell’s overall knowledge of issues in the real estate profession, as well as his proven track record with Realtors and his openness to working with the industry in a challenging time, will serve Virginia’s real estate market well.”
This endorsement comes just days after McDonnell received the backing of The Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, an organization of farmers and rural families with more than 147,000 members statewide.
The Virginia Association of Realtors® is the business advocate for real estate professionals in Virginia. VAR represents more than 33,000 Realtors® active in all phases of real estate brokerage, management, development, and appraisal.
