Budget Work Session Yields 3.3 million in cuts

Cuts agreed to by a majority of Council members held on Friday the 13th include elimination of:

Arts Festival – $137,000
Circuit Courts Judges agree to one less law clerk position – $49,200

Publications (Annual Report – Citizen Magazine) – $29,500
Hospitalization for indigent (Gov. proposed eliminating) – $61,600
Bookmobile – $60,000
Law Library – $58,700
School Fitness Centers – $73,480
Mounted Patrol – $251,410
Police Cadet Program – $41,173
EMS Services (REMS) – $80,000 (special events)
Department Pagers – $29,510
ICMA Savings Plan Match – suspend for one year – $1,068,000
Flexible Spending Match – $60,000
Identified Staff Reductions – $504,892 (not layoffs – job shift)
Civic Center Subsidy – $450,000 (private management)
Incremental Debt Service Funding – $445,000
