Chopra submits 20,000 signatures – Sen. Northam campaigns in Roanoke

Aneesh Chopra Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor turned in 20,630 signatures to have his name on the ballot for the June Democratic primary. Chopra in a communication said, “We were only required to submit 10,000 signatures, but our team of dedicated volunteers and organizers went above and beyond. While this is just one step on the road to victory, it’s a huge sign of strength for our campaign.”

Chopra was appointed by President Obama as the nation’s first Chief Technology Officer.

State Senator Ralph Northam will be in Roanoke Friday to meet with area Democrats. Northam in addition to being a state senator is also running in the primary for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor. Northam introduced legislation to repeal the ultrasound law. “This sacred, personal decision should be left to women and their physicians,” stated Senator Northam.

He serves as Assistant Professor of Neurology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and has ten years of volunteer services as Medical Director for the Edmarc Hospice for Children in Portsmouth.

The Democratic primary takes place on June 11.
