Roanoke, VA — Roanoke City Council has selected Colin Baenziger & Associates of Florida as the firm to lead the search for the new city manager. Mr. Baenziger himself will be leading the search effort. Two searches he has recently completed in the last 45 days are the city manager search for Greensboro, N.C., and the county manager search for Brevard County, Fla. As part of the search process, a series of public meetings will be held next week to allow the community to receive information and provide input to Mr. Baenziger, who will participate in these meetings.
Three meetings will occur on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in City Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building. A meeting has been scheduled at 7 a.m. at which time the executive search firm will share information with the Council about the recruitment and selection process, the schedule for hiring a city manager, and associated items. No public input will be invited at that time.
The remaining meetings will invite citizen input to help develop a recruitment profile for the city manager:
• 5 p.m., with special invitations to the education, social services and non-profit community, and • 7 p.m. with a special invitation to the public at large.
Two additional public meetings will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, in City Council Chambers:
• 7:30 a.m., with special invitations to business leaders, and • 10:30 a.m., with special invitations to neighborhood groups.
Citizen input is invited at any of the bulleted meetings listed above. A special meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. in City Council’s Conference Room to invite members of the news media to learn about the recruitment process and associated items. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for the media to ask questions and interact with the executive search firm and City Council Member Rupert Cutler.
