Congress remembers 9/11 with singing

On the 11th anniversary of 9/11 Congress gathers on the steps and sing “God Bless America” – courtesy of Virginia Congressman Morgan Griffith

Congressional Remembrance Ceremony of the Eleventh Observance of September 11, 2001. The bicameral, bipartisan remembrance ceremony took place on the East front steps of the Capitol to pay tribute to the thousands of Americans whose lives were taken on September 11, 2001.

Ninth district Congressman Morgan Griffith sent this photo of representatives gathering on the steps of Congress to sing “America the Beautiful.” They did this the day following 9/11 in 2011. The hope then was for bipartisanship. It somewhat lasted until 2003 and the beginning of the Iraq War. Since then well as we all know divisiveness is at an all time high. I doubt today will make any difference.
