Councilwoman Anita Price discusses college affordability

Councilwoman Anita Price at campaign headquarters Sunday.

On Monday, Roanoke City Councilwoman Anita Price joins members of the Roanoke College Democrats for a press conference to highlight the contrast between President Obama’s support for education and Mitt Romney’s policies that would put college out of reach for more students.

“As students return to college campuses across the commonwealth, the choice in this election could not be clearer. President Obama has fought to keep college affordable and doubled funding for Pell grants. Meanwhile, the Romney-Ryan budget could cut education spending by 20%, including the Pell grant program, resulting in 178,000 Virginia students losing about $1,000 in college financial aid. The Romney-Ryan budget would also double student loan rates, forcing more than 177,000 students in Virginia to pay up to an additional $1,000.”
