CRIME MAP January - August 2009
Lieutenant Mac Babb Zone 4 alerted the Northwest neighborhood of attempted burglaries and car thefts. The email to neighborhood presidents (which I am one) came today. This is a reason to be a member of your neighborhood group or neighborhood watch.
The “very high” crime areas on the map are Valley View, Towne Square and Burlington Coat Factory and are mostly shoplifting incidents.
One of our neighborhood members had an attempted burglary Tuesday night. They were unsuccessful in gaining entry. CLICK HERE on the distributed document on how you can protect yourself.
Needless to say as soon as you see anything suspicious call 911. They don’t mind – they beg you to call as this helps them put 2 + 2 together in order to concentrate their resources on a particular area and analyze a pattern. You may think they just ride around bumping into criminals. NOT SO – they have analytical software that depends on YOU to contribute even the most minor of thefts and suspicious activity. It all adds up! The police can only help us as much as we help them.
So don’t be shy – calls to 911 can be anonymous and you can ask the officer to call you back with the results without coming to your home if you fear retribution. I’ll repeat they can only do what WE help them to do.

Here is Lt. Babb’s alert:
In conducting a monthly review of offenses occurring in the NW area I came across several Theft from Vehicle (4), Property Damage (3) and Burglaries (3) that had occurred near your neighborhood areas in the last 45 days.
They are spread out in the neighborhoods on both sides of Cove Rd., NW from Ranch Rd all the way up to the Catholic Church so I’m not ready to say there is someone, or a group, actively working your neighborhood, but it certainly concerned me since we seldom see any offenses occurring up there.
Please encourage everyone to be vigilant in reporting suspicious people in the neighborhoods especially in the late evening and early morning hours.
Some of the offenses appear to have occurred after 5 AM so your members may witness something in the morning hours that could be useful. I have attached the “Lock it or Lose It” information. Please forward this electronically or print and pass it off to those who it may benefit. We will give any updates or additional information at the coming Community Meetings.
