Democrat Joe Bush will announce for Sheriff on Monday, March 23 on the Roanoke Courthouse steps at noon. Bush will face Frank Garrett in a June 9th primary for the Democratic Party’s nomination. The winner of the primary will then face current incumbent Republican Sheriff Octavia Johnson in November.

Bush has served 15 years in law enforcement and part of that time as deputy sheriff in Prince Edward County. He is currently a Probation and Parole officer serving the Vinton, Salem, and Roanoke region. Bush has been in this position for 10 years. He stressed that he plans to “save money” and operate a leaner more efficient sheriff’s department. His goal is to get the department accredited. Joe Bush’s website CLICK HERE!
