Thursday night the Roanoke City Democratic Committee with most of the five candidates present set the filing period and caucus date for a Firehouse Primary.
The $1000 filing fee must be received between November 24 at noon with the deadline being 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. Sam Rasoul, Dave Trinkle, Court Rosen, Patricia White-Boyd and Keith Wheaton have communicated or announced their intention to run in the primary.
The Firehouse Primary will be held on Saturday December 7 at the Roanoke Civic Center between 10:00 a.m and 7:00 p.m.

The Democratic committee will meet one more time, December 19 before their reorganization. That date was set to be on Saturday, January 4.
There is still an opportunity for additional candidates to enter the contest before the 5:00 p.m. Wednesday deadline.
The Roanoke City Republican Committee Firehouse Primary is set for December 10.
