Girl Scout Office Hosts Roanoke Artists

An Outside “Artists Clearing House” event had to be moved indoors Saturday at the Girl Scout Headquarters on Peter’s Creek Road.

Artists brought their portfolios, chairs, and tables for an art show but were forced inside due to the weather.

It was dreary outside but not inside the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council Office. The room was buzzing with enthusiasm. For a $10 entrance fee local artists with the League of Roanoke Artists displayed their art and entered contests. Artists had the morning to quickly draw an entry for the Crayola contest. Two artists tied for a prize. The Juliet Lowe prize went to Patricia Palcono and the Daisy prize went to Rosanne Moon of Bent Mountain .

Carol Frye, President of the LRA said they will be having a wine and cheese reception at the Pheasant Ridge Retirement Community Apartments on April 24th. It will be their way of saying thanks for letting them use the Pheasant Ridge Meeting Room for displaying their art work and providing the LRA with meeting space.

Other events include partnering with the Discovery Shop that will include a silent auction at the Trio Bistro in downtown Roanoke.
