Golfing with Daddy and Grandpa …

This young lady scooped up in a dash to the next hole.

Our City Council does not see nor do they want to see the diverse recreation opportunity that Countryside Golf Course provides. Our City Council’s absolute refusal to pay attention to this “treasured asset” in our community smacks of discrimination. Yes, while the campaign promise to build an amphitheatre “anywhere” must be fulfilled before the next election we suffer from lack of – let’s face it “influence” and “money”. I guarantee you if we were BIG contributor’s lining the pockets of politicians there would be valet parking for us all!

Influence.

It’s deaf, and the Miracle Ear costs more than most can afford.

As I zip around the valley and beyond, I always bring up golf which leads naturally to me asking if they’ve ever played Countryside. Almost all have. Then I mention that there are some who want to close down the course, even though it’s a profitable operation. Every single person I’ve educated in this manner has come down on the side of the city’s development plans. Every single person I’ve spoken with wants Countryside to remain a course and even improved.

I meant to say…

Every single person I’ve educated in this manner has come down AGAINST the city’s development plans.

Who wants this development deal? The people developing the property in front of and beside Home Depot?
Are they banking on more vehicular traffic when the city bulldozes it’s way through the Countryside Clubhouse parking lot to connect Peter’s Creek Road with Hershberger .

Honestly, this whole development just stinks.

That’s true, Newt. I’ve experienced the same thing. Wearing our T-Shirts people come up to US and voice their disaproval. If we could get the media to do a poll like they do for the amphitheatre and the Mill Mountain Inn proposal maybe it would get exposed. Let’s all urge the TV stations and RT to do a poll – Develop Countryside or keep it a golf course and improve on it.
