UPDATE: Dec. 6 – Congressman Bob Goodlatte endorses Sheriff Octavia Johnson for 11 th district delegate saying “uniquely qualified to serve as our next Delegate.”
Goodlatte said, “Octavia Johnson has called Roanoke home for over three decades. She loves Roanoke and has proudly served our community as Sheriff for the past eight years,” said Congressman Goodlatte. “Octavia’s experience, expertise and dedication to the people of Roanoke make her uniquely qualified to serve as our next Delegate. I know she will fight for good jobs, work to strengthen our schools, and help keep our community safe. I am proud to endorse Octavia for Delegate and I ask that you vote for her on January 7th.”
ROANOKE, VA Dec. 5 – Governor Bob McDonnell officially endorsed Sheriff Octavia Johnson on Thursday, saying Johnson had a “proven record of success” and a “clear, positive vision for the future.”
In his endorsement McDonnell said, “A lot of candidates run for office and talk broadly about what they might do if elected. Then there are candidates like Octavia Johnson who run for office based on a proven record of success, and with a clear, positive vision for the future. And that’s why I’m endorsing Octavia in the special election in the 11th District of the House of Delegates.
“As Sheriff, Octavia kept Roanoke safe, ran an efficient, nationally-accredited public safety program, and proved herself to be a strong leader who looked for solutions over sound bites. As Delegate, I know Octavia will work hard every day to help the private sector create new jobs, improve our schools and keep Roanoke and all of Virginia safe.
Octavia will bring real leadership to Richmond, not empty promises.”
