No surprise – Habeeb announces he will run for reelection

Delegate Habeeb as he announced for Special Election

“As the ‘new guy’ in Richmond, many will assume that I’m uniquely vulnerable to liberal attacks. Let’s prove them wrong,” wrote Delegate Greg Habeeb announcing his reelection bid.

Republican Delegate  Habeeb represents the much larger (after redistricting) 8th district and lives in Salem. He won the special election in January 2010(2011 how time flies) to replace now Congressman Morgan Griffith.

A portion of Delegate Habeeb’s reelection release:

I am proud of all the things we accomplished in such a short period of time. I am proud that we unanimously passed a budget that made new investments in K-12 education, higher education, transportation and public safety. I am proud that we invested in targeted incentives to encourage entrepreneurs to invest and create jobs. I am proud that we stood up for the values that make our Commonwealth great. I am proud that we did all of this without raising taxes and, instead, actually cut fees and made Richmond more efficient.

However, the work is far from done. When I announced my candidacy, I said that all elected officials should ask themselves everyday whether they are the right person for the job. Over the last few weeks I’ve been asking myself, and many of you, that very question.

After much prayer and consultation with my family and constituents, I am excited to announce that I am running for re-election this coming November.
