Obama Campaign Announces Pre-program for Wednesday

Richmond, Va. — Obama for America announced additional details of the Vice President’s visit today to Blacksburg. The stop is part of a two-day trip across southern and southwestern Virginia. President Obama and Vice President Biden believe the only way to create an economy built to last is to build it from the middle out, not from the top down. Vice President Biden will discuss the choice voters in Virginia have in this election – a choice between these two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs, and pay down the debt.

Blacksburg Pre-Program

  • The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Terry Carter, a veteran of the US Navy and the southwest co-chair for Veterans and Military Families for Obama.
  • The invocation will be given by Sue Kurtz, the Executive Director of Hillel at Virginia Tech.
  • The national anthem will be performed by Kat Mills, a local musical artist and owner of her own label, Sweetcut Music.
  • Remarks will be delivered by Trish White-Boyd, a local Organizing for America volunteer.
  • Vice President Biden will be introduced by Victoria Cochran, a co-chair of Blacksburg Women for Obama.
