UPDATED: According to Vivian Paige blog the sixth recipient of the racist e-mail was the Independent candidate, Kenny Golden for the 2nd CD. Vivian called him and he convinced her he was not the person who outed the GOP chair, Dave Bartholomew.
The newsflew around twitter and within minutes a facebook message from a news outlet in Virginia Beach hit my inbox. The Virginia Beach Republican Party chair, David Bartholomew was accused of sending a racist e-mail joke out to friends and family.
Both Democratic congressman of the 2nd district, Glen Nye and his Republican opponent, Scott Rigell immediately decried it and called for Bartholomew’s resignation.
The e-mail that was sent to five people depicts a man attempting to justify getting welfare benefits for his dog.
The e-mail reads:
“My Dog is black, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and has no frigging clue who his Daddy is.”
Gary Byler, the 2nd Congressional District Republican chair said Bartholomew forwarded the March 15 e-mail without reading it. Then he said that “he was first getting familiar with the Internet.”
Vivian Paige has a blog in Norfolk. She is tracking down the recipients of the nine-month old e-mail. She rightfully suspects the timing was meant to distract from the issues.
There were five names on the e-mail and Vivian suspects there was a sixth. She plans to get to the bottom of this. She thinks that the sixth person was probably the culprit that sent the nine-month old e-mail.
Visit Vivian’s blog HERE which includes a press release from Terrence Boulden, Fairfax, Chairman, FCRC African American Outreach Coalition calling for Bartholomew’s resignation.
