COREECTION & UPDATE: Seven applicants applied to fill Jason Bingham’s seat on the Roanoke City School Board.

Not all applicants will get a interview. (Council decided to interview all applicants instead of filtering as mentioned at the morning briefing.)

A closed door meeting before the 2:00 p.m. council meeting will be held to select from the seven to be interviewed on June 20 at 4:00 p.m.

The seven applicants announced at this morning’s council briefing by Mayor Bowers are: Chris Craft, Linda Wyatt, Cynthia Dillon, John W. Elliott, Jr., Lisa Stoneman, Richard Willis and John Whitney.

A public hearing on June 20 at the 7:00 p.m. will give an opportunity for city residents to lobby for their candidate of choice. Bingham resigned effective June 30 due to his promotion at Trane (Ingersol Rand). His promotion requires extensive travel.

Council will make the selection at the June 20 July 5 council meeting.
