Video Highlights of General Assembly

According to Delegate Ken Plum (D-36) the House Republicans spent the first two weeks of the session preventing Alexandria Delegate Charniele Herring from being sworn in. They killed bipartisan redistricting legislation and refused to hear bills aimed at cleaning up Virginia’s campaign finance laws. They blocked one of their own members from introducing a measure that would require health insurance companies to cover autism treatment. They even stood with their obstructionist friends in Washington and attacked President Obama for sending the Commonwealth billions in recovery and stimulus money.

“It’s hard to believe,” said Plum, “but Jeff Frederick, the chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, spent more time on the floor attacking Charles Darwin than he did trying to protect your job.”
