View from the new William Fleming High School – video – slideshow

Web DSC02059A perfect bright blue sky welcomed the new William Fleming High School on Thursday. The ribbon cutting followed kudos and kisses from Chairman, David Carson, School Administrator Dr. Rita Bishop, Mayor David Bowers, Vice-Mayor Sherman Lea, and acting principal Doris Ennis.

Dreams do come true and this time there have been two of them said a proud Dr. Bishop.

Mayor David Bowers made a point to emphasize the structure equality of both William Fleming and Patrick Henry high schools. He said Patrick Henry was built first to ensure the same funding applied to William Fleming high school.

There were many other officials there – nearly all Council members, Congressman Bob Goodlatte, State Senator John Edwards, and Delegate Onzlee Ware. The band played and majorettes danced – really cool drums. Recognized were 1962-1964 graduates of William Fleming and former school administrator Dr. Wayne Harris.

This isn’t near the list but the day was for the parents, teachers, students and taxpaying citizens to admire the sparkling bright $57 million high school “built on time and under budget,” said School Board Chairman David Carson. Everyone was treated to cake and punch and a tour of the building.

Students seemed to find their way around better then the adults. Better than this adult anyway – I got lost.
